It's volunteers' day!

The day started at 7am when the alarm clock rang. I walked with a bounce or 2 towards the Tent. Am eager to step foot into the place once again and interact with the gals.

At first was a bit apprehensive, hmm my gal was discharged from the place already leh.. do the rest of the gals know me? Anyway, before I can set my bearings about where to head, I heard my name 'hello are you Lynn?' There are a few gals waving to me .. hee those are my gal's good friends .. recognise their faces. 'You cut your hair right? From far, we are like thinking if you are lynn or not'. Cool. No sweat.

Putting on my brightest smile and more of my 'I' characteristics, I introduced myself and did small talk with some of the girls and the volunteers. Talked more with this volunteer from NHG .. hee she knows Sam the divemaster I went diving with in Phuket this year Apr. She looks pretty 'matured' but I din see any ring on her finger and she mentioned about staying with her sister .. erm... I decided not to ask her the taboo qns :P

Then Yuling came along too. Glad to have a companion. We are in the same group. It was fun seeing the gals leading and organising the group. The games are ... out of my league man. We tried to catch fish using a small net (not easy!), did fishing (wormy business) and got a froggie to jump in the right direction (I'm sorry this one, my contribution is minimal!). I got a limited edition The Tent young designer's customised mug as an appreciation gift. Hee .. Gemma says she thinks it's the nicest. I kio-deo :P Oh, we finished off with lunch (long awaited) and line dance (super confusing turns and taps)! haha

Through my sharing with Yuling, I find that God is reminding me of His words spoken to me before. I was telling her that I was having a rough time juggling studies and work when I first started and one evening while walking home, I felt God spoke to me that when I come to the end of myself, I would know that He is God. That's abt 3 years ago. Learning to let go along the way. Last Apr, I could really tesify it is God when I passed my CT5 (actuarial) exam. I know myself. That time round, I wouldn't be able to clear the paper without God.

And one more thing God has spoken that's really cool. I remember that I was waiting for MCYS to clear the admin so that I can start volunteering at the Tent. One day on the bus, I felt like asking God for a name of a girl who's there whom I could pray for. A God-given qns returned a God-given ans: Shirley. Hmm don't ask me how I got the name. I just got it! I think I was also thinking of variations this name, say a different spelling, or it can be a Chinese name eg. Xue Li. Ok, then I prayed for this gal that God would heal her broken heart, see to her needs, give her hope and love.

A few weeks/months passed by, and I finally got to the Tent and started my tutoring work. Ok, I had known that the gal's name is Jeslyn, not Shirley, whom I thought God would assign me with. I asked Jeslyn 'Er.. do you all have a gal named Shirley here?'. Nope is the answer. Hmm, I thought I had heard God wrongly. Oh well nvm. And guess what, just when we returned to the Tent today after a whole day of fun, Yuling was saying 'Ok I go say bye bye to Shirly first.'. The name caught my attention. 'What? What's her name?' Somehow it didn't register in the morning when she intro herself in the bus. Or did she? Anyway, I felt very affirmed in my spirit 'Yes God, I had heard you correctly!' We had chance to also chat with Shirly's aunt and know that she attends CCC where she is also bringing her niece.... well well .... I see open doors here ...

I'm very happy to serve at the Tent. Hope to be able to do more next year. Got a feeling I may be given Angie to tutor. One thing, she looks a lot like my secondary school's classmate.

So blessed =)

I live in Punggol

Beary-eyed pandress speaking. Attended a colleague's wedding. 1 wedding down. 2 more to go this month and 1 final one to close the year next month. *red bombs!!* haha was joking with my colleague that what goes ard comes ard. Then he said,"But what if I don't get married?" Hee then you lu-gee loh! :P

Anyway, the whole fanfare ended kinda late. A hero came to the rescue of 3 stranded damsels who were trying hard to hail a cab along the highway. Right. Thankful that my boss dropped us off at Paya Lebar. Was supposed to go back to Punggol last night ... but I think it makes more economical sense to go back to my house at Bendemeer (aka whampoa south or boon keng).

Been staying at Punggol since last Sunday. A luxurious and well-furbished flat. Everything is spanking clean and new. Fresh air and quiet surroundings. Accessible by LRT or bus 136. Comfy bed and personal restroom. Fridge well-stocked up with goodies and munchies - and a pack of Neutrogena sheet mask bought at a steal at Punggol Plaza Watsons :p Well, if only my office is at Punggol ... guess you can't ask for best of everything. And almost everyday bumped into my Punggol colleague and wife - and I be running after the bus 136. Deja vu. But I've truly enjoyed my Punggol living. :)

Was glad that I managed to make it for the 288 meeting on Tuesday night. Getting off work been a challenge this week. I agreed with what Ps Eugene preached that night. Abt the theme 'Year of Victory' for 2007. Enter the year with thanksgiving and being a blessing. And being a Warrior of Light for God. This Warrior of Light thingy, I think it sounds very familiar .. think I read it off Ben Chong's blog before. Anyway, it was an Amen! I felt God spoke to me about this personally too. Think this was shared by Ps Lawrence too in one of his recent sermons, which oops I didn't go service that week cos fell sick ... and oops no initiative to listen to online sermon :p

I know that one of the many things for me to work on in terms of character building next year is discipline and responsibility. I have a tendency to procrastinate and take things lightly. The 'do it later' and 'aiya nevermind lah' syndrome. Which I have labelled them as low 'C' characteristics. Guess it calls for faithfulness in the things I do.

And this thing about only a dead man has no rights to say he has sacrificed too much. When Ps Jeff first said it, I was like, chimz. Then ya, dead man dead already what, how to complain? he can't complain anyway even if he wants to. Precisely. Still in the process of being sold out for God and throwing off everything else and doing everything that He calls me to do.

My question has always been "what to do?". Guess I will know what to do when the heart is ready for it ... and of course, every step of faith out of comfort zone helps to ready the heart for bigger things. I was wondering where does the Tent ministry lead me ... and hey, I got an sms from Gemma on the same Tues nite that there's some activity going on in Dec and asking to stay tune. Cool! :)

Oh yes, I agree with the "Break Out" theme too. I had sensed the Lord told me to "step out".. and lately, I felt that the energy level got to be upped. And hey, break out sounds good! Oh Lord, please redeem this word for You. Not pimple break out! haha .. speaking of which, I got 3 red bumps on my forehead. Yes, they form (bermuda) triangle.

Ok .. thought I better get started on my weekend assignment. I sent some late drafts yesterday evening that I would send a more refined draft today. Paper due for Board submission on Mon ... see lah, how last minute can I get? Argghh .. got to change! Not by might nor by power, but by the Spirit of God!!

Ciao .... going East Coast cycling later ... then back home ... then dinner in town .. then Punggol ... fun filled Saturday :)

Faster finish my work first! haha

It's still about the hair

The Bonafides people called me yesterday when I was on my way home after service. They knew that I wasn't too pleased with my short hair by my sarcastic remark "It's a bit too short right? But what to do? It's already cut."

They called to offer me complimentary hair service eg. highlight. Quite good after sales service huh? Now, we are talking ...

But still in a dilemma about what to do with my hair. Should I change this style aka cut even shorter (since it's already so short, not much harm done), or just do some highlighting on my fringe. Argghh .. problematic. After a day's work, I'm still thinking about my hair. Not very nice to be laughed at loh. But thank God for the people around me who tried to assure me that it's nice, stylo etc.

Guess at the end of day, it's my hair what. Why care about what others say?

Hee bought a nice pin to keep the hair from falling over my forehead today.

Enough of hairy business .... knocking off .. ciao!

Oops I did it again!

It has been 3 months or so. Time for a new haircut. I have no idea how I wanna get it done. Just gimme something different please. Oops did I forget to say something different AND nice? Of all the different hairstyles I have tried, I say, yesterday's is by far the most disastrous. Somebody, anyone out there, has a wig or something?

The cut was unexpectedly short. Yes, it did look something like what the hairstylist (a senior) had described. But I didn't expect to expose my ears so much. Before the cut, he was describing the way he gonna cut and all. I didn't bat an eyelid. Go on, just do it. I'm cool about any cut. I trust your taste and skills. Wala the results, I think I would never (oops, nevermind abt the last time I used this word on a shawl :p) step foot in Bonafides again. Thankfully, it didn't cost me a bomb.. hee .. got voucher :p

Ok, enough of complaining... just airing my views abt aesthetics :p (quoting pinky's comments). Hair will grow though this time, I think it would take a looonngngg time. Anyway, hair change, but I'm still who my identity card says who. Guess it be a good few days to get used to this change. Whatever. It feels cooler. Perhaps can hear better (hello?). Right.

Life goes on dude.

Observer

Just came back from a focus group session as an observer. Am a first-timer to play such a role. Hey I din know that the mirror in the discussion room is actually a "see thru window" for the bunch of "observers" to yes, observe the focus group participants. Was years back when I participated in focus group. Food provided, decent incentives awarded, interesting discussion. Last time was canvassing funds for hall events, this time as an observer literally laughing behind people's backs.

It was really a hilarious time for a group of 9 of us. Thought the room was quite cool. It's like watching a live sitcom haha. We engaged Mediacorp to conduct this focus group to garner feedback on our ads (press, radio, bus back, MRT). Oh btw, we bumped into Fann Wong in her Porche at the carpark. She looked like the Final Fantasy character with the heavy makeup, straight hair, big eyes. She was nice to smile back at us. *melt*

The comments given by the focus participants were very funny. Ok, I shant say too much here, supposed to be confidential. Much of the feedback is expected. We too have the same feel. But the words used to describe the ads, company positioning and branding were super duper heartlandish, somewhat straight to the point.

Much can be done to improve our company's image, product and marketing strategy man. On the whole, it was an eye-opening experience. It's different to be there listening first hand to the comments compared to reading off a report. So glad that I volunteered to go for this :)

Income Day 2006

A night of fan fare and dance. My company had our annual dinner at Swisssotel Raffles Ballroom as per every other year. But this year we prepared some special highlights. Each division to put up a dance performance. All participants are "recruited" on voluntary basis, related expenses (costumes + props) paid for.

The best part is: It's fun!

All cuddled together for a dance group photo, with other colleagues who happened to be there too.

Striking our best pose. Bring it on!!

The 2 of us again. We love taking pictures :)

D.I.Y close up shot. Slightly skewed to right but still alright.

The bad haze

The haze is really quite bad huh. PSI 80, though not in the unhealthy range, it is causing respiratory discomfort man.

Just back from my dept retreat at a country club off Tanah Merah. A whole day of discussion on organisation and department issues, right down to staff morale and satisaction. With the coming change in the top guy and pending change in the management style and culture, hmm, sounds interesting I say. Changes bring excitement in life isn't it? Wah, but this change in weather is unwelcome loh *double cough* The air seems to be better in the country club area...

Anyway, thank God for our dance item that went very well on our Income Day dinner. Bring it on! It was fun rehearsing intensively for the past few weeks. Though it was a mad rush during lunch time (extended), I feel that it was all worth the effort. We got a professional dance instructor to coach 6 groups for un-pro staff for the different dance items. So thankful that mine is the cheerleading dance. Easiest I think. haha. Don't mind to do the last one though. Futurist kinda dance. Pretty well coordinated and the music, dance moves are cool.

Oh ya, President SR Nathan came and graced the event. I shook his hand! hee, when else have a chance to take a group picture with the president and shake his hand? Remember a few years back our cell group was seated on the 2nd row right behind our senior pastor in church. As usual, worship ended and we were supposed to shake the hands of those around us and say "God bless you". Ps Lawrence turned around .. and he shook my hand! I was like too happy for words. "Pastor shook my hand!" haha he was always like the guy up there on the stage, beyond the rows of people in front of me. Wonder how it feels like when I were to shake Jesus' hands next time :)

Yes, back to the haze.. feel like going somewhere with air-con. Escapism. Get away from the haze and the heat. Doesn't help that I just saw someone under my block burning bundles of incense papers. The air is bad enough already loh. Sigh.

Maybe can go shopping :p

Plumbing works

Finally it's Saturday. Good time to send in the plumber.
The shower head been down with cold recently.

Drip
Drop
Drip

It went.

I gave NTUC Income's home services a call and Mr Plumber was on the line. He says he can be here within an hour. Cool dude!

But I was in the middle of putting up the laundry though. Erm better double up a little. And ... I'm cash-strapped ... don't have a habit of more than $50 in my wallet. Got to do a shuttle run to the ATM ...

I felt a drop. *oh no* Was almost there. Just another bridge, I could tap on my bank resource ... more drops ... a heavy downpour .. arggh!
Did a graceful U-turn towards home. Thankful that in situations like this, there can be turning back without turning into a pillar of salt :P

Ok, try to get home fast, grab a brolly and try again. Erm but it's pouring loh. Hmm, wake my big bro up to sign me a cheque? Sounds good :) Or, just ransack my dad's wallet to see if there's sufficient cash? *evil laughter*

Reached home. Shut the windows. And the door bell went "Ding Dong!" in its cheerful, high pitch aka C-key tone. Just in time. Thankful for the rain that brought me back in time. Yes, there's money in my dad's wallet . keke

Plumbing works began. So here I am blogging and popping on him every now and then.

Feel like a housewife today.

NUS Dance Ensemble

A rarity that I'm home and pretty free ... here goes my once-in-a-blue-moon blog entry:

Went for NUS Dance Ensemble last evening with Cindy and Kelvin. Well, I happened to have free tixs for this .. so why not? Besides, I'm always interested in watching dance performances .. perhaps cos I was involved in dance in my pri sch days? haha .. Anyway, my company sponsored the NUS dance festival that stretches for the whole month of Sep. There were therefore a stream of free tixs going around, which I think some tixs were not even redeemed.

Was pretty impressed with the dance steps, choro, costumes, lightings and all. Oops but some of the costumes quite stumbling. Oh well, though I find it still quite normal .. inevitable in the arts scene? I like especially 2 of the dances. One is something like a futuristic dance. .. cute costumes .. good choice for using this as the opening dance.

The other one that I like is the chinese contemp dance. It mixes oriental music and dance moves with western ballet. The guys did a lot of workout flipping the gals around, carrying them on slits etc.

Ok lah, some of the dances, I find are a bit boring? Repetitive, common dance steps .. I'm sorry, I fell asleep at the 2nd last or last dance. The music was good haha.

Growing Up

Met up with a group of hall mates at Manhatten Fish Market yesterday. Seems like we are highly afflitated to seafood (no!! .. fish are friends ..) The last time we met up was also over dinner eating seafood (yes .. fish are food too .. so by induction, friends are food or food is friend? haha)

Been 6 years since we left hall. Cliche but it's true: Time flies. And everyone still looks the same, speaks the same manner ..etc. We spoke of yester years memories that sparked like last week's. But how things are different now. We have married ones, those getting married, attached, unattached, just graduated and so on.

The evening stretched past midnight. We adjourned to the popular after dinner activity: karoke. Someone emphasized on the word "karoke" instead of "ktv" hee.

Was totally impressed with a seemingly "eat potato" friend actually pretty with his knowledge of the latest Mandarin pop songs and he got no problem with the "fan ti zi" lyrics at all. Can you believe it, I needed someone to read out the lyrics for me by the side so that I could do my gig. My chinese did got a decent grade ok, but well, oral wise, barely made it :p

Met up with more friends today in church. Friends who stopped by SG for a week or 2 who flying back to US on Tues. We will see them back in a year's time. Ya, that's about the length of time they were away. Again, time flies. We should be dearing wedding bells in 2 years time for this couple? hee :)

More friends that we hardly saw, came for service today too. And they brought along their partners. Hee church service is an invitation for all to come, partners included. It's nice to see that we filled the whole row of the section in Expo hall 10. Yeah, but we all know that we don't hang out as one big group these days. Part of growing up. Differing priorities. But thank God we are still one Body in Him. Amen :)

The Hot Spell

Just woke up from a 2 hour nappy. My study-sleep ratio has improved slighly. Now is 1:1. It was 1:3 last weekend I think. haha:)

Really kinda hot these days. Maybe that's what making me so lethargic. Went with Mum to lunch and back today. I was so satisfied by the ice-cream we bought on our way home. Yummy, simply delicious :P

A different kind of hot spell took place at home lately. Or rather it got hotter recently. Mum is now my roomie. We bunk on the same different bed - it's a double decker. We exchange beds on alternative days. Depends on the shift she is working. Derived rule: Whoever needs to wake up earlier the next morning will take the lower deck. Reason being, we are both light sleepers (I had thought that I sleep like a hog). I was kinda "suffering" when Mum first moved in, and she was sleeping on top (cos she do not appreciate the fan blowing below). She was on AM shift and woke at 5+am... and I woke up with here as well. :( I thought if this goes on, I will turn into a pandress. :P

In a way, I thank God for this "hot spell". It's the driving reason for my mum to attend Chinese Service on a regular basis. She just went to FCBC @ EXPO for the very first time! Erm, I think it was also my first time to Chinese Service since we shifted to Expo. And she enjoys it! Taiwanese Streams of Praise was at our service! But I think she enjoys Ps Khong's preaching more. Man, I'm really proud of Ps Khong. His Chinese is pretty good huh. If not for her AM/PM shift this sunday, Mum would probably be going this week too. She said that she will apply for PM shift the following week so that she can go church. Praise God! :) Mum is open, and she indicated that she is interested to join a cell group. The rest of us are still praying for her salvation.

Indeed, we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Rom 8:28

TTCW

Operation TTCW aka Take The City Walk

An exciting event that is coming up! This coming Sat.. Padang .. take the City for Jesus!

It's like a relevation come to pass. Something we thought of, spoke it .. and it is!

Went for Japan mission during pre-NTU days. They have this Jesus Day thing. Forgot if this is an annual event or adhoc one.

Anyway, the mission + local pastors + fellow believers took the streets of Japan, praying for revival and singing loud praises and worship to the Lord.

Rem it's quite a sizable grp. We got guitars, tambourines, drums, mikes, amplifer .. etc, clad in red T-Shirts that shouted "Global march for Jesus!".

We were asking each other, wonder if that could actually happen in Singapore. I feel that this Take The City Walk can be a milestone for the Church of Singapore to reaching that dream. Amen? =)

Sidetrack: Somehow I found myself landed up in the main com for this event. No particpation points. Only heavenly points haha.

Nah .. our wonderful overall IC did much of the work. Really a lot, a lot more. Thank God for him! Glad to be of some help here and there . hee so far still quite enjoy it lah.

Think it gonna be more "fun" on the day itself :p

A security issue

The Lord been showing me this thing since the beginning of July.

And it's quite in line with the 40-day fast thingy.

Perhaps I've based on security in things like: pay check, staff grade, IOA exam passes, appearance, people's opinion of me, church hierarchy .. etc.

And how easily I can waver in what God think of me.

Recently felt quite discouraged.

Somewhat I still not feel confident to sing over the mike during sound check, considering the fact that I've sung for so many times already. Think it's back to the security thing.

Know that it's something to overcome. The Lord has called me to this ministry. I got to slay the giant! What to do? Just to keep praying and trying loh.

Identity and Security in Christ. Humility to learn.

The love of God washes over me. His delight so great, something I can't fathom.

His affirmation so deep, am touched yet I can feel so unworthy.

Need for more God's perspective. Renewal of mind. The Word of God.

Lasik -- Eagle's vision?

I saw the glaring red laser light. I was a small bright spark then it got blurrer and bigger.

Then at one point, I'm not sure if I was opening or closing my eyes. Cos my vision was just a blank. White. Nothing.

I did felt some slight stinging feeling in my eye during the op. Thank God still bearable.

I saw a flap of my eye open. It's like a transparent cover being lifted off. Then the laser proceeded to do it's magic.

The whole time, I was supposed to open my eyes (I'm forced to anyway, as the apparatus was cramping my eyelid) and focus on the red light. It was quite uncomfortable. In my mind I was thinking, why in the world did I put myself thru' this. Well, too late now.

Ok. Done-ed. "Congratulations, you got new eyes!" beamed the doc. He was really a very smiley and re-assuring surgeon. Has a little high pitch voice tone though. haha.

He closed the flap. It's like pasting the flap back. You know, when we were in pri sch, there was a kind of glue which you apply with a little plastic brush. I saw him "paint" my eye with this white "plastic brush". *cringe*

Within 1/2 hr, both eyes been lasik-ed. I felt like I could hardly open my eyes. Very uncomfortable. I was let to a couch to just rest. Nearby was some biscuits and drinks dispenser. I simply closed my eyes. It was early in the morning,. Good to catch some sleep there and then too. Might as well.

After some checking up, the doc affirmed that everything went fine. And I headed home with my mum. Think my steps were quite wobbly. Luckily never bang into any wall.

At the end of the day, it's a wonderful thing that .... I don't have to grope about my for specs the moment I wake up. But actually, at the first waking moment after my nap from the op I did. Hee forgot that I can see now! =)

Am told that my eyes still take time to recover and regain vision fully. Now, I feel like .. I'm wearing contact lens ... a little dry. At night, got "halo effect". Guess these are just temporal.

Hopefully the eyes will get better as the days go by =)

Excuse me, watsup?

To be exact, my question was "Excuse me, may I know what's the problem here?"

This is a super belated posting. Some WEEKS back, I was in a fully packed bus (133). The whole world is dying is get home - for World Cup? haha.

A quarrelsome guy got on the bus. And when the bus inched forward some metres, he started shouting, "HEY I got on the wrong bus! I want to get down now!".

The bus driver was trying to tell him, he could only let him off later ... not at the traffic light for crying out loud! BUT that guy kept shouting "I told you I got on the wrong bus" x10.

In the end, the bus driver also got super hot-headed .. and refused to drive! From a fully packed bus from front to back, the occupancy was reduced to a mere max 10 ppl, including myself.

I did the next best thing that is totally unprecedented in lynn's history. I went up to the shouting men (oh btw shouting ppl puts me off) and uttered "Excuse me, may I know what's the problem here?"

Hey I've paid my bus fare ... and I wanted to get home. Next day still need to work you know!

Just wanted to help the 2 resolve the issue loh. To me (and many others), that was like "what's the big deal man?". Tried my best to be the negotiator.

In the end, the police came. Escorted the difficult passenger down. And the bus went on its way.

Inside, I was hmm quite proud of myself. Hee me ain't a typical Singaporean who just mind his own business ok. Oops did I just offend a lot of ppl? *Bleah* Nah, that was once in a blue moon. If I were like the majority that got down the bus, I wld have missed this experience of trying my hand at resolving a small bug between 2 grown up men.

So there :p

Song Of Jabez

Jimm sent me the following song. Just tot of sharing the lyrics here :)

Praying God's will to be done is dangerous prayer. But for all those who know God and truly desire after God, that's precisely the prayer of our hearts :)

Beyond What I See (1998)

According to Your will
According to Your will
I'm praying, I'm praying.
According to Your word
According to Your word
You hear me, yes You hear me.
According to Your heart
According to Your heart
You answer, when I pray

Father bless me indeed
You're all that I need
Expand my horizons beyond what I see
Put Your hand upon me,
and keep me from evil today
This is what I pray

According to Your plan
(According to Your plan)
I'm waiting
(I'm waiting)
Yes I'm waiting
(I'm waiting)
According to Your hand
(According to Your hand)
You lead me
(You lead me)
You lead me
(You lead me)
According to Your love
(According to Your love)
You seek me
(You seek me)
When I stray

Father bless me indeed
You're all that I need
Expand my horizons beyond what I see
Put Your hand upon me,
and keep me from evil today
This is what I pray

The only blessing that I seek
Is to know You're using me

So Father bless me indeed
You're all that I need
Expand my horizons beyond what I see
Put Your hand upon me,
and keep me from evil today
Father bless me indeed
You're all that I need
Expand my horizons beyond what I see
Put Your hand upon me,
and keep me from evil today...

According to Your will
According to Your will
I'm praying.

GSS

"Due to the Great Singapore Sale, our store is extending our opening hours for another half an hour. We will close at 10pm today."

Yeah!! Hee So happy last night when I heard this at Takashimaya. You see, I was desperately shopping for shoes (again?!) haha. I had taken quite awhile already... but still not fully satisfied with the 101th pair I've tried. Thank God for Kelvin who was waiting patiently for me :)

Yes, I saying abt the shoes ... I'm trying to find a replacement pair for the Charles & Keith one for vocalist. Got to be covered. Not too high. MUST be comfortable. Not oldish looking. Within budget. You see lah, so hard to find. At the end of the day, my ankles felt a little sore - from the painful shoes I tried. And for the 101th pair that I tried, I'm not sure if that pair was causing the pain or it's due to the previous pairS. *mutter*

So in the end ... no choice. This sunday (tmr), got to wear the painful C&K shoes again. =( But I'm grateful that at least got shoes to wear. Some ppl may not even have feet .. saw some motivational msg to that nature.

Was also looking out for some cheap retro accessories for d&d LATER. Yep, I'm forever last minute. Hee. Oh ya reminded me of this project that I'm doing with my colleague. He super kan cheong to do the work - while I'm .. not say nonchalant, I'm focusing on the more pressing things first.. anyway still got time mah :P

Oh, yes abt d&d, we are having a retro theme.. so you be expecting to see Elvis, Ah go go gals ..etc. We got colleagues renting costumes and all. But I'll just settle for a simple dress plus some accessories to retro-fy it. But last night, also didn't have much time to buy them .. haha maybe later just before the d&d? haha

Though ended up not buying anything last night, I felt happy :) A easily contented bear :)

Spa Craze

Far from the maddening crowd - I wish I were.

Recently been spending A LOT on spa. Don't ask me how much. It's enough for me to dig into my other savings account.

Much of it is due to stress bah. Too much system work is bad for health, I find. Thought I really need to get my body relaxed. Other than praying, thought I still need to do all that I can eg. SPA, exercise, eating right .. etc.

Oh well, I recently signed up for this Fire Therapy Package thingy. After getting clear-headed, I did some homework and realised that hey all is not lost! There is this Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act, gazetted by the Ministry of Trade and Industry that states that I’m allowed to cancel the sales contract within a 3-day cooling off period (excluding Sat, Sun and public holidays).

It's more than meets the eye. The matter dragged on for 2 weeks now - still unresolved. I just typed a 1 page letter to "demand" to cancel this package thing and a full refund of the transacted amount.

During lunch time today, I was telling my 2 other gal colleagues about this problem that I'm not sure what to do. On one hand, the spa lady i/c told me that she would bring up my case to her higher boss, who was in KL. And guess what, the matter unresolved, she went on a 2 weeks holiday aka unreachable. I had called up the spa place again, and was told to fax in a letter. I was getting this dread feeling man ... And ...

The next best thing is totally unprecedent. My colleagues were feeling so indignant for me that they went down to the spa with me there and then. Yep, with lunch time left 1/2 hr, we headed a few streets down the road. Thankfully, the managers were away at a conference .. and the spa is just nearby office. We confronted the sales manager - who was unfortunately at the right place but at the wrong time. She got to counter our questions and demands on behalf of her colleague and the management. I'm so impressed with one of my colleagues. Man .. she is fearless. She literally pushed her way thru'. Both the sales manager and her are noticeably agitated.

Sometimes I wish that I can be more firm in the face of these high-pressure sale tactics and arguments. On our way for the "settlement talk" this afternoon, the 3 of us were just sharing our experiences where we got caught in situations when we knew our rights but just couldn't stand up to our aggressor. I knew that I'm just not the kind that is able to shout back, defend myself and see that justice is done.

Something to pray about. I know that God is Judge and will seek vengence on my behalf .. but .. can't I also be standing up what is right?

Show me Your ways Lord....

Shanghai tai tai

That's my colleague's new status :p

She just got a 1 year no-pay leave from my company to go over to Shanghai to be with her husband. Her husband, btw is a Singaporean, got a posting from his company to be stationed there. Cool right?

Anyway, I gonna miss her. She's like my big sister in my unit. Often provide advice, guidance, help of all kinds. Some mix feelings over here. But I'm certainly very happy for this new arrangement - a new life at a new place.

We had a farewell cum belated birthday lunch for her just before she left last month. Hee we got her some Carrefour vouchers for her luggage bag and a "Mrs Lee's Cookbook" from Kinokuniya. Coincidentally, she's also Mrs Lee!

Off she goes ... to fulfuil every gal's dream :)

The May babes

Presenting the cakie ....

The May birthday babes ...

And finally, the family :)

Jaws

Swelling jaws. Actually it's gum infection to be more specific.

Think I have a ulcer towards the back of my mouth, near the throat. Or something that causes swallowing a little painful.

Anyway, one infection leads to another. Now my gum, at the bottom wisdom tooth area got really swollen. Visited the dentist and he suggested 3 remedies:

1. Keep the area clean. Brush. Rinse with antiseptic mouthwash daily.
2. Antibotics to curb the swell.
3. Painkiller to ease the pain.
4. Utimate: remove my wisdom tooth. and might as well the top one. cos the extra flap of flesh near there makes the area susceptible to food traps and infections.

#4 is like .. I will avoid as far as possible. The very thought of it scares me off already. So painful! Though the 1 week MC sounds really enticing.

And he asked for my opinion, as in which treatment I wanted. I was like, hmm, I don't know what's best?! Thought he's the dentist he should know better right?

Anyway I simply opted for #1 lah. Next mon then see how. But it's still quite painful now loh. Only soft food for me now as far as possible. Soupy stuff .. and I take ages to finish them.

Oh God, may Your hand be with me .. keep me from infection ... and free me from pain!

It's my birthday you know :P

Finally got to settle down in quietness after I got home late last night. Thank God managed to cross over my birth year with the Lord. Heart overflowing with thanksgiving on how God has been with me all these years, the people He has so graciously blessed me with, the successes / failures aka lessons learnt. As I still my spirit to listen, I sensed the Lord's Presence. Really, there is no other place I would rather be, no other voice I would want to hear at that time.

The Lord has seen me through the years of growing up and growing in Him. Even before I was born, He knew me! I told Him, this, is too much for me to fathom. How possible for someone to know and love me so intimately - from inside out! 27th May 1981, He has chosen to bring me out of my mother's womb. All along, He was planning and He is revealing His plans for my life - to me.

I dunno how it gonna be. The world goes on with its hustle and bustle - and would I tag along? All the striving, the clamoring for success and recognition. But hey, if the Lord's will is for me in the marketplace, He will certainly bless and provide for me as well.

This morning, I was thinking, hey, I forgot to utter my birthday wish/prayer to God last night. Hmm, what do I really want God to do for me leh? So many things, but so difficult to articulate. I started to think (I told some of my sisters that I think my prayers instead of say my prayers most of the time. Are these prayers valid too? :P). Anyway, I started to think of the things I hope God will help to change in the people around me ... then seemed like the question bounced back at me "What can I do for you?" God is in essence thinking about me. What do I want God to do for me? Actually I still don't have an answer. Erm, God you know best right? :p

Guess at least for now, I wanna get well loh. Been falling sick recently. Almost every week. This week Wed onwards sick again. I think I need more rest? Think work too hard, too stressed out.. on Mon I worked till 4am loh. Crazy. You said it. My colleagues were also asking me what I want for my birthday. One was saying "Get her mua-chee. Lots of it!". Then I replied "I love ice-cream!". Then I mentioned to another "Think bird nest better. Good for health right? Bu more importantly, it's yang yan right?" Hahaha they pengz :P

Last night, my colleague and I were talking about our pending one-month leave next year. Where to go, what to do? Hee reminded me about one bro that went to NZ and he said he almost came back in a little white box - or something like that. Hmm, I also wanna travel .. chill for awhile ... ah maybe can go Shanghai find my tai^2 friend :)

We'll see. Chill.

=)

My friend's wedding

A year ago, my Cedar cum NPCC friend smsed me to say that she is getting married this year .. I was like "What?" then "Congrats!". I mean, she's the first amongst us to tie the knot. This gal, I know her since Sec 1 .. haha looking at her that night at the banquet this month, she still looks like the way she was then. 2 dentists getting together. Sounds good - and financially stable :)

The Tent

Been to The Tent just now. It's a temporary shelter for girls who do not have a place they call home. Define home as a place where there is safety and protection. I was just so eager to get there. Ok I was late again, but really tried to get there on time. Last night, I was praying that I will be able to get off work on time just so that I can get there.

It's an answered prayer. At least, at the moment I think it is. God moves, when the vessel is willing. Beginning of the year, we were planning our 2006 endeavours and roaring pursues for the Lord. I was like, God, can you show me what you want me to do? Then, after that, I was hmm, Lord, I think I got no time to do Your things leh. Huh Lord, You want my life ah? Can don't or not? Thank God that meter having swerved to the left is now back at equilibrum and now tilting towards the right. Phew *sweat*.

Yup finally finally. I'm just done with my Apr exams. Been on a rioting Phuket dive trip. Got over the promo fear. In the midst of a mega project but hey, things aren't as scary as it seemed. Somebody get that mousey outta there please. (Oh by the way, now my office bar consuming of food in the office cos they just caught a big rat this morning from the 6th floor - the corporate office level)

Yes, I was saying about The Tent. Answered prayers. I was there, listening to the interviewer (Note contradiction: listening and interviewer). Trying to size up the gist of the organisation. Ok at first I thought it's a Christian hostel now it's isn't. It's non religious, no christian umbrella overhead. Just a Catholic history. Did I hear alarm bells? *ring ring*? Nah it's history lah. It's now an independent organisation. Richly blessed with aid from influential people.

Some months back I was reading a book entitled "Forgiving the Dead Man Walking". I think I blogged this before. It's about a girl kena kidnapped and raped by a pair of baddies. Who put on a brave front thru' to put the criminals to justice and reinstate a boyfriend who was unable to protect her. Who finally broke down and walloped by fear and depression. And who eventually chose to forgive - by the grace of God - and got set free.

And some months later, I was just travelling on the bus. And I was reminded by this story. I felt indignant for girls who had to go thru such ordeal. I saw something on a poster today that went something like "Sexuality is not sex. It is about you, and you are a masterpiece." Amen. Ps 139, we are wonderfully and fearfully made by the Lord in our mother's womb. Before we are conceived, God knows us! He sees and carefully crafts our innermost being. Unique sons and daughters of Adam and Eve.

This lobang to give tuition at The Tent came somewhere in Mar I think. Went thru the cycle of seeking the Lord and consulting Huisi. Hey got to make sure that this is of God first mah. And also got to see if motive is right loh. For me, I just wanna serve in an area where I can feel connected with. Hee another area will be reaching out to divers :) That, for now, no prompting yet haha. That time as I was praying about it, the more I feel this is what the Lord has opened for me. I even had the notion that I will meet a gal named Shirley there. Where did this name come from man? Coincidently, there is a IT manager in my company by this name. Anyway.

Really, Isa 61, I pray that God will use me to set the captives free. Bestow a crown of beauty instead of ashes. Oil of gladness instead of mourning. Garment of praise instead of spirit of despair. Turn every weary feet into feet of dancing! Got this heart for desolate ladies, esp those kena bullied by guys. Don't ask me why.

Gemma (cool name right?) was explaining to me the meaning of The TenT. See the 2 crosses there? Actually their logo got a 3-D effect such that the first T looks smaller (ie. further) and of a darker shade of blue than the second one. The Tent itself signifies a temporary shelter. Like the Tabernacle in the old Testament. Every person who enters the Tabernacle is protected and has his dignity restored. And the aim of this organisation is to bring the occupants out of darkness and into the marvellous light (of God).

Reminds me of a song:

Only in the dark where I can't seem to see
I learn to hear Your whisper gently guiding me
Reach out for the Hand that bears the light
So my step is right
Only in the dark

Ok ... actually got to wait for some time for the admin to clear before I start the weekly tuition thingy. And the commitment is preferably at least about 1 yr. Then what about my actuarial exams? Hmm, I don't know. Say, I have the every intention to drop it - for something of eternal value :)

Alrighty, sleepy bear kinda sleepy already man. Actually not really lah. Too excited after typing this posting. Side track: Aiyo, why my keyboard so dusty one. And oh, we discovered that Gemma is actually my neighbour! She lives directly 7 floors above me. Where have I been all my life? Haha. Ok, got to hit the bed. Cannot take it liao. Zzzzz.. tmr got cell group. Can see mother bear .. and baby bear .. :)

Silent all these years

Fell sick - again. High fever and diahorrea last night. These days keep falling sick. Dunno what's wrong. The doc suggested that perhaps I'm too stressed up. Maybe? I feel things are still managable leh. Perhaps it's a sub-conscious thingy. But thank God, my temperature plummeted from 38.5 last night to 37.5 deg this morning. So statistically speaking, I'm getting better! =)

Anyway, took the morning to continue reading the book "Captivating" by John and Stasi Eldredge. Really got to thank a sister (again) for lending me this book. Powerfully written. And whenever I read it, I felt that resonance in my heart, of the Lord's speaking to me.

An extract:

"Unveiling beauty is our (women's) greatest expression of love. When we choose not to hide, when we choose to offer our hearts, we are choosing to love ...

Our focus shifts from self-protection to the hearts of others. We offer Beauty so that their hearts might come alive, be healed, know God. That is love."

Have I been hiding all these years? Scared to open up my heart - such that I'm "silent all these years"?

Afraid to open up. Afraid to speak up. Always well-guarded. Fear of being exposed. Fear of being deemed "not lovely anymore" if others are to know about the "real" me.

The title of this posting is a song by Toris Amos. Went to do a search on the lyrics. Quite depressing leh yet it tells of a woman's deepest fears:

Years go by will I still be waiting
For somebody else to understand
Years go by if I'm stripped of my beauty
And the orange clouds raining in my head
Years go by will I choke on my tears
Till finally there is nothing left

Been reading Isaiah (later chapters) and Song of Songs (no pun intended :p)...

Feeling unloved? Come to the Cross My dearest lovely one. Come and touch My nail-scarred hands - and feel My love for you. I love you.

My Lover spoke and said to me:

"Arise, my darling,
my beautiful one, and come with me.

See! The winter is past;
the rains are over and gone.

Flowers appear on the earth;
the season of singing has come,
the cooing of doves
is heard in our land.

The fig tree forms its early fruit;
the blossoming vines spread their fragrance.
Arise, come, my darling;
my beautiful one, come with me." - SOS 2:10-13

Sensed the Lord pouring His love on me. His love that surpasses all the love anyone (or everyone accumulated) can ever give me. His love fills up the lack I feel in my heart - and much more. It's overflowing. He beckons me not just to bring a cup to contain His love - come on bring a pail .. or a tub! Though with whatever vessel I bring, His love will still overflow!

I was brought to remembrance to the time when I young, I was sqeaking with delight in my tottering steps as I attempt to go down a relatively steep slope - and made it.

And again to the time when there was no one looking, I was holding a long ribbon, waving it and dancing, imagining I was gracefully gorgeous - and beautiful.

Guess along the way came my little bro. In the initial years, middle child syndrome set in. Felt neglected. I didn't want to play. I didn't want to take pictures like I used to. I just wanted to sulk by myself at one corner. Don't bother me. I threw tantrums. I sealed myself up. I refused to be comforted.

The Lord is now in that situation. He calls out to me:

"My dove in the clefts of the rock,
in the hiding places on the mountainside,
show me your face,
let me hear your voice;
for your voice is sweet,
and your face is lovely. " - SOS 2:14

The next verse that follows (SOS 2:15): Catch the little foxes that ruin the vineyards that are in bloom. The Lord has done a great work on the Cross for me already. His healing is complete. A conscious effort on my part is to catch those foxes that seek to "kill, steal and destroy" all that the Lord has done for me.

And I wish to end with this verse from Isaiah 30:15:

"In repentance and rest is your salvation,
in quietness and trust is your strength"

Also these verses:

Unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit (1 Pet3:4). He will quiet you with His love (Zeph 3:17).

There is beauty and strength in quietness!

I always thought, hey that's easy to fulfil since I'm naturally quiet. But it's actually not about being quiet or loud, introverted or extroverted. It's about having that restfulness and trust in the Lord. No striving. No relying on self.
To have a heart of faith, a heart that trusts in God, a spirit that has been quieted by His love, and filled with His peace.

And to be at rest in the depths of my soul. A knowing that becos of God, all is well .. and all will be well.

Just noticed one of my pillows on my bed. Bear prints on the pillow case. I've been hugging it the whole of last night. =)

Phuket

Flew on a jetplane to Phuket. Left after a string of events. Thank God for this trip. His timing for such getaways is always perfect.

The 2 weeks before was like ... I felt like I was in the pits? Stressing for Actuarial exam, keep falling sick (still sick during the paper itself), storm erupted at home - letting out a glimpse of the fragile facade of deeper root issues - just few days before my paper.

Thank God for His presence during the prayer meeting I went for straight after my exam. His Rhema Word (Word for the present circumstance) spoke powerfully through a sister who prayed for me. Healing for the soul. The human tendency to want to fend for myself. The helplessness. The injustice. God says He will fight for me. He is my refuge. The rest of the meeting was very good. Learned about the spirit of conquest. Some take home thoughts: What are we conquering? What are we doing with God's Word?

==================

PHUKET

Leopard sharks. Blue-spotted stingrays. Lion fish. Multi-coloured squid. Shrimps. Crabs. Seahorse. LOTS of fish.

The underworld was just so beautiful. Awesome. Magnificent. Breathtaking. I thank God for every life that I see down there. The deepest dive I've ever been was the wreck dive when we went to explore a sunken vessel - KingCruiser - 30.2m deep from the surface. Something like a Titanic kinda experience. We went down .. hee and the first thing I saw was the great white throne. Haha. We explored the various decks of the ship. So much so much fish. They came in and out in schools. Hold my breath a little, and the fish will come round me. Like how my friend put it, he feels like the Little Mermaid.

We had the trip planned with the help of a dive instructor who is my elder bro's gf's cousin. Yep, you got the idea :P Can hardly tell that he's a 40+ year old guy with 3 kids. The 3 of us (me, colleague, and colleague's friend) got along with him pretty well throughout the trip. We had arranged to meet a bunch of our friends at Patong Beach where we tried jet-skiing and para-sailing. Both of which are my first time. Watch out for the Lynn the flying fish haha.

Alright back to ashore Singapore. Hopefully the next dive trip will be in 6 months time ie. October. Gonna see how it goes. Tata!

Police catch thief

On my way to the West Coast Park yesterday afternoon. A police car parked on the roadside near my house. Cool. No qualms about that.

Oh better hurry. The traffic lights turning red. Meanwhile I saw 2 police officers running in my direction towards the traffic junction. Perhaps they too wanna cross the road? Bleh. Haha.

It turned out that they did cross the road but they headed straight to a man on a bicycle. These officers are indeed physcially well-trained. 1 man and 1 woman on foot, heavily clad in their full blues and boots actually managed to gun down a fleeing guy on bike. Dun pray pray. *Beepo x2* came the police car finally in action.

Just some city musings. I think it's definitely more comfortable for police officers to wear some lighter clothings eg. T-Shirts / Polo shirts, trackpants and Nike/New Balance running shoes. Haha so lame rite? :P

==================

ANYWAY ...

Yesterday Good Friday outreach was really cool. About 100 kids gathered on a rainy afternoon for a time of splashing fun and games. That was my first Good Friday outreach event held on a scale such as this. The rain eventually stopped ... Praise God! Hee a sister was like saying ,"I always wanted to worship God in the rain!" when we were interceding for the event before the games started.

When the "altar call" was given, there were a few hands raised. These are the kids who dared to make a bet with God and said "God, if You are real, show Yourself to me." Well, there can be miracles, when you believe. Trusting God to reveal Himself, His love and His plans for these lives ... as well as for ourselves.

Romance in a pragmatic world

Who says romance and pragmatism can't coexist?

Really, it's more than the gifts itself. It is the motivation behind the gifts that melt the heart. Gifts carefully chosen, plans deliberately made, all out to win her heart.

A favourite flower, albeit familiar, costed many folds more. A Sasha bear made novel, having been given a tender name along with a priceless tag that spells priority. A tasteful brownian bought with her in mind. It's flavour, her favourite nonetheless. All these, came bundled in a airflown bag, all the way from a faraway wonderland.

An overly-commericalised affair made magical. A loving gesture ordinated the day unique. One thing he asked, this was what he seeked, that he would bring a sparkle to her eyes, a smile to her lips and a loving warmth to her heart.

Hear the sound of a champagne pop. See the display of fireworks in the skies above. The Lord's timing cannot be more perfect. A magical moment left both lost for words. Except for those eyes that divulged the lover's hearts.

Come behind the scenes and see. Tight deadlines and hectic schedules. Work demands and responsibility calls. Too many tasks. So little time. Visit the modest lifestyles of two simple saints. Extravagance, really, is but a term. That's life in a pragmatic world.

A magical moment. Now a memory. It was time well-spent, time deeply cherished. Looking ahead, the future no one (but God) knows. May the Lord preserves the two, and fulfills His plans for them.

"I will sing to the Lord for he is highly exalted. The Lord is my strength and my song. He is my God and I will praise Him. " (Exodus 15:1-2)

"How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you." (Psalms 31:19a)

I'm attracted by ..

I'm attracted by GREEN! =)

Just something about green.

Most girls like pink. I love pink too! Hee guess that can be pretty obvious sometimes. Esp on a Sunday when I can spotted lugging a HUGE pink-striped bag to church.

2 of my wonderful colleagues in my team like pink too. They have strikingly similar taste when it comes to colours and apparels, and are often labelled as "sisters" in my company. One of my them was just telling me about one of their lunch time shopping trip to PrettyFit (Bugis):

"Wow the bags come in so many nice designs .. and oh so many pink!"
"Ya, but I'm sure if Lynn is here, she will like the green one. (Laugh)"
(Yup, both are not ardent fans of green)

Haha so funny, I proved them right when I went shopping with one of them last friday - yes over lunch hour. And there, we saw the array of bags just as they had been:

"Hey look, the bags are nice and chic! Hmm .. I like this (picking up that green one)"

There and then my colleague was just tickled all over. It's like a "prophecy" came to pass. All of the bags with all variety of colours, I got to choose the green one. They just don't get it. Hmm.. green nice what ... oh well whatever.

Guess my taste for colours have changed over the years. Used to not like green actually. Now, I think that green is COOL - esp lime green. used to not like orange too. Remember there was 1 time during my 1st mission trip to Chiang-Mai when I was 18. Was kinda upset that out of the many coloured costumes for a dance item, I got to settle for the leftover orange one. Hee but now I like orange! So bright and cheery =)

White rose

On your mark, get set, GO! I mean CHARGE! ... to the Tangs Sale!

It's the time of the year, when our beloved heels are getting worn out. When it comes to shoes, Tangs Studio is the answer. Comfort within a reasonable price range. I won't settle for less man.

Was thrilled when I redeemed my Starhub points for a $20 Tangs voucher. Heh heh just waiting for the sale to come ... and hey, within a few days, I received a mailer about the sale that's worth waiting for (erm sorry that's Robinsons tagline).

Oh well, went on a not-so-easy way to get there during lunch time just this Mon. Looking overhead, my colleague and I were trying our hand at forecasting the weather and were deliberating whether to take mrt or bus. Just right there at the cross junction, right to the bus stop, left to the mrt station, with both traffic lights showing red man, the floodgates of heavens opened and poured forth its blessings on us. Ok, decided to hop on to a cab (Fancy taking cab to go for a sale? This is unheard of in Lynn's history). Erm got to tip-toe on some muddy track before getting to the cab some more.

BUT ....

Guess it's all worth it - beholding my white heels adorned chicly with a huge rose each. No greater joy? Haha.

Wanted to buy 3 pairs.. in the end only settled for one .. got to go back there again one of these days again. Yes during lunch time. And only this week - cos my boss on reservist :p

Though vouchers are not usable during sale periods (I found out), the deals are good enough themselves.

Hee this posting may sound a little bimbotic.. haha shopping .. all in a woman's make up. Anyway, it's for necessary items (not trying hard to justify here).. haha those who know me know that I don't usually shop much.

So there ...... =)

I had a dream

Long time since the last time I had a dream in my sleep - and I remember it when I wake up. Gonna describe it here, but in no coherent order.

==============
Scene 1: In a packed MPV

A bunch of us were just done with our groceries shopping at a mega supermart with super steep escalators. All loaded up into someone's MPV.

*groceries shopping - reminds me of NTU days when we thronged NTUC Fairprice on the day we "booked in" to hostel from home
*mega supermart with super steep escalators = Carrefour?
*someone's MPV - so far the only MPV I've been on is my boss' :)

Anyway, WHO is this BUNCH of people? Erm .. they are actually the people (guys) who tried to woo me in the past (emphasis here), plus some gals (and I forgot who's in there), plus erm the guy who likes to see stars. What an odd combi right? All the guys (except one) were trying to catch up with me. He was just appearing quiet and suddenly passed round a packet of Timeout chocolates - half unwrapped for easy consumption. My heart just melted.

*see stars - yup we saw a lot of stars in Cambodia with the background music accompaniment of Teresa Teng's moon song
*Timeout chocolates - mum bought lots of them recently; and I ate lots of it as well :P

==============
Scene 2: In my living room

Chaos! There was this dog at home trying to play biting with me. (I "wonder" which dog) Not only that, there were tons of cats too wanting to play. No! I was just frantically fanning them off - using a cushion?

*dog at home - everyone knows who's that
*cats - ya there are lots of stray cats in my vicinity
*cushion - I slept with 2 big cushions on my bed; no wonder I dreamt of one of them?

==============
Scene 3: In my room

Many of my relatives were at my house. ALL the relatives' kids were in my room, wanting to play. Can you imagine, a little room packed with screaming kids? One smart one suggested that we (my sister and I) sing them a song. Mai tu liao, my sister picked up her guitar and wanted to lead worship for these kids. Guess she was feeling overwhelmed at this first sign of breakthrough in the family. She led us through some "I will live for you" song and shortly broke down in tears. Meanwhile, some kids were persuading me to sing for them. I did, following the rhythm of my sister's song. And they wowed in Mandarin, "Wah, like a star!"

I got the kids settled down a little and brought them into a time of quieter worship. An opening prayer for them about our everlasting God who is the Beginning and the End. A God who knows us intimately because He is our Creator. Something that the Lord impressed upon my heart last week from a worship song lyrics which I referenced it to Isa 40:28 and Ps 90:2b. I saw across the room, in my parents' room where the adults were. Like the kids, they were all listening. No one speaking except me. I led a simple song "Draw me nearer". No lyrics for the people. Out of nowhere, a special friend came in and helped us write the lyrics on a mahjong paper. Guess this is one of the loving ways through acts of service. Ya, I was very touched by the Holy Spirit. I fell on my knees, bowed my head, stretched forward my hands and worshipped the Lord.

And I woke up. Still feeling touched =)

==============
Sometimes dreams can really reveal our hearts to us. I speak so especially for Scene 3 above. Last night before bedtime, I was talking with God and was reading Est 4:14b and 2 Tim 4:7-8. Was journaling this down and felt to entitle the entry as "Fulfilling my destiny in Christ". Got to submit my 2006 plans to Huisi already. And I'm still seeking God's destiny for me.

Guess the dream speak of my heart's desire to be used as an instrument for Him. People hear me sing, they get mesmerised. And as they listen more to the lyrics from the singer's heart, hopefully they will find God and acknowledge Him.

Gonna to process this thru' a little further. Going into more details like how and when. But for one thing, dreams are very tiring for the mind. I woke up feeling really tired - hmm can also be attributed to the 5am toilet break? Ya and get tramatised by the leaping lizard.

So there ... I love Saturdays =)

Wishy washy

The washing machine spins
Cleaning my clothes again
Splosh splosh splash
Oh watch how the clothes churn

The pleasure of spinning
In a moment all'll be clean
A beep beckons the master
Bamboos out for your duty call

==========

Quite bo liao rite? Haha that came out while waiting for the washing machine to stop its spin. The laundry (the hanging part) was almost done when the last bamboo plopped on the kitchen floor. Overloaded. The supporting wire (for the bamboo) gave way. So round 2 of wishy washy. Might as well. Fill the machine with more load.

*Beep beep beep*

Hear the sound
Sound of the machine calling
Who will come for me?
Aye, coming right away

ChocVanilla

Cornetto on relaxing, cold day. Man, feel like I'm in ... North Pole?

A far cry from the days earlier in the week. Not having adequate rest. Ambitious endeavours to conquer 2006. Somehow cut back on time with the Lord .. it's really asking for it. It's like bashing into 2006 and getting all bushwhacked. Getting little and not well-rested sleep and feeling increasingly edgy, I know that I'm heading downhill.

BUT thank God for Saturday! It's my personal Sabbath - and I'm guarding this day fiercely. No activities as far as possible. Also had a good chat with my vocal team leader last night and cleared some load off my mind. This morning, I got the luxury of waking at 11am and catching another 4 hr nap after lunch. Chiok!

Woke up again at 5.30pm and went about clearing some clothes off the bamboos, tried to mug my actuarial notes in between day-dreaming ... and the ultimatum ... ChocVanilla Cornetto ice-cream! Haha not really my favourite ice-cream brand or flavour. Just feels nice to be eating ice-cream. *Yummy yummy* And I choose to think that ice-creams are not fattening :p

Should I go back and mug again? Hmm guess I will if I can't get to sleep. Feeling kinda distracted now.. din really mug much today but at least got things moving. Oh well ..

The purple rose .. it's blooming beautifully and growing strong :) Changed the water daily dozed with 1 panadol per day. Erm somebody told me before panadol is good for flowers lah. And for now, I'm believing it :)

Still got to seek the Lord on some of my plans ... no relevations yet ... but I'm excited to serve and worship the Lord tmr :)

Blessed by a rose

Flowers, diamonds, chocolates ... Women's best friends?
Guess guys won't go very wrong with these don't they?

Just got blessed with a purple rose this evening. Quite a unique lilac color. Somebody said I got good taste ... (I think so too .. hee)

Also just got myself a haircut. It was still quite long so the lady (me) requested for it to be slightly shorter. There the lady got it - shorter. Was pretty pleased at it.. Somehow when she got home, the home mirror seemed to tell otherwise? Haha not sure if this is consumer buyer dissonance.

Oh well, hair will grow. Still pretty. *Bish* so buay paiseh haha.

Time of the night. Tomorrow beckons. Zzz.
